Research Paper Summarizer

Research Paper Summarizer, a GPT4-powered tool to intelligently summarize the PDFs of research articles 🤖 📑

Reading, reviewing and understanding (typically many) research papers is an enriching but time-consuming task, and you do not always know in advance the actual “return on investment” of allocating time and mental resources to the task - unless you are reading a paper on journals such as “Science”, “Nature” or the “New England Journal of Medicine”, which publish only top-tier research, almost always worth the time reading it.

In addition, you may just need to have a first overview of the content of (typically many) research papers in order to get a general  idea of the state-of-the-art within a given research field, especially if you are not already an expert in that field. After you get the general picture, it’s easier to define which papers to read first, which later, which carefully, and which to discard.

If you are lucky, you may find that someone has already invested time and effort and published a recent and complete literature review covering the topic you are interested in; but often that is not the case, either because the latest complete literature review dates more than 5 to 10 years, or because you cannot find any.

That is why I chose to invest time in building Research Paper Summarizer, a GPT4-powered tool that inspect and summarize the PDFs of research articles, distilling the main info of paper articles into concise tables, summaries, and that can search for specific informations.

Once you have gathered the PDF of the research article(s) you want to read (and assuming you are a ChatGPT Plus user), you can use Research Paper Summarizer to significantly accelerate many of the next steps, which in turn will boost your research productivity, help you stay updated with a fast-paced growing scientific knowledge and discoveries, and increase your learning rate 🚀 .

  1. 1. cut read / review time, focus on what matters 🔍
  2. 2. list key findings 🎯
  3. 3. create concise summary tables with one click, no prompt needed ⚡
  4. 4. create a full literature review table, uploading one PDF at a time, concatenating results 📚
  5. 5. export tables as xlsx files 📂
  6. 6. Ask your paper anything, for example:
  • "explain the main results in simple terms" 👩‍🏫

  • "what are the main limitations of this study?" 🤔

  • "create a table with the p-values of all tests in the article" 🔬

7. and more! 👾
